Leo's Wahoo Take

Posted on: 08/06/08

Leo's Wahoo Take

Today's game is how the whole season has gone.  Ryan Garko hits ball down first base line, thinks will go foul but does not so is easy out because he does not leave batter's box!  (wtg Garko!--poof!)  Indians have a 7-4 lead in 9th.  This is how tampa Bay 9th goes:  double, double, home run, single, walk, home run--6 runs in 9th, no outs recorded--INDIANS LOS 10-7!  Is joke!

The Manny Trade

Posted on: 08/04/08

The Manny Trade

A lot of people have given their opinion on this so here is mine:

I cannot hate on Manny.  Do I like the fact that he just about quit on the Red Sox, of course not!  But he brought us Red Sox fans two world championships and for that I am glad.

Getting Jason Bay is not bad.  He is an all-star and he has been off to a good start so far.  I'm also sort of a Dodger fan too (My favorite National League team).  What I find hard to believe is all the so-called "experts" burying the Sox now that Manny is gone.  Sort of makes us the underdogs.  I like that.  Let's go Red Sox!

Random Thoughts on 1st Half of Red Sox Season by Gerard

Random Thoughts on 1st Half of Red Sox Season by Gerard

It feels so good to be back in first place!  THANK YOU, INDIANS!  Could not have done it without you!

First half MVP lots of guys have played well:  J.D. Drew, Ellsbury, Pedroia, Manny, Youkilis and Mike Lowell.  Hard to signal out just one.

Heading into the 2nd half, pitching will be huge like always.  Starters have to get at least to the 6th or 7th inning.  Bullpen has to pick it up.  I think Papelbon will be okay, it's the other guys I worry about.  I think putting Masterson in the bullpen will be a good move.

Getting Big Papi back will be huge lift for the club.  Should be an exciting three months ahead--go Sox, go!

First Half Grades:
Starting Pitching  B+
Relief Pitching      C-
Offense                B
Defense               A+:

Video Replay for Baseball

Posted on: 05/25/08

Video Replay for Baseball

I do not understand why the baseball commissioner has such a problem with using the video replay.  The reasoning that it would prolong the game is just ridiculous, considering the time outs to argue about the calls prolongs the game too.  With the video replay, at least both teams would be satisfied that the correct call was made which would save all the arguing.

Sometimes it is difficult to tell if a ball is fair or foul and if the video replay was used, it would make sure the game is fair.

Leo's Cleveland High School Football Preview

Leo's Cleveland High School Football Preview

RHODES RAMS

We went to one game that was extremely funny!  One old fan (probably the dad of a player) kept yelling at the coach, the coach kept yelling at the players.  The stands were practically empty, team was poof.  They couldn't even punt well.  I slapped a high five with the Ram Mascot (someone dressed up in a costume).  Long ago when Karen attended there, they had a real ram for a mascot named Bo Diddley.  She couldn't care less about the game.  Look for this team to be poof again!  Karen said Rhodes never was good in football--their strong sport was basketball and track.

St. IGNATIUS ("IGGY")

Will be real good but I don't like them.  Go down, Iggy, Iggy go down.

PARMA REDMEN

They surprised me last year and won some games!  Is usually a poof team.  Look for poof again this year, LOL!

BENEDICTINE

Gerard is big time for the Benedictine Bengals!  Takes my amigo, Benny the tiger to the games when he goes.  When they play good teams, they go poof!  Look for that pattern again this year.

The season starts in 2 weeks.  Look for my picks here.  My friend, Rory, will do college preview soon!

Putt Putt Challenge Ends in Sudden Death Playoff

Putt Putt Challenge Ends in Sudden Death Playoff

Today we played putt putt at a nearby place on Brookpark Road.  We tied at 10 over par so had a sudden death playoff starting at a hole we were both over par on.  We had to go one more hole to break the tie, and Karen won!

Ten over par on putt putt--shows you what bad putters we are.  But, that's the first time we went this year.  We usually do better than that!

1st Half Report on Indians by Leo the Wahoo Lion

1st Half Report on Indians by Leo the Wahoo Lion

Indians finished first half by sweeping Tampa Bay 4 in a row!!  At least that is something.  First half was big disappointment after getting within one game of going to World Series last year to ending up first half in last place--POOF!

Here is what went wrong:

I was worried we did not have enough hit men and I was right.  Once Hafner and Martinez went out, no one stepped up to do anything.

Pitching was only good in spots.  Then no runs scored so good pitching went to waste.  Bullpen was a disaster area!  No one to depend on at all.

Defense was poof too.  Lots of errors or plays not made that should have been.

Second half is just three months of playing young guys to see if they can play or not.  Can we get out of last place?  Maybe.  Does anyone care once football training camp opens?  I think not.  Progressive Field will be ghost town (dumb name--that's what started our woes).

First Half Grades:

Manager, Eric Wedge     POOF!  F+

Offense                          POOF!  F

Defense                         POOF!  F

Pitching       CLIFF LEE A+  (the rest  D)

Bullpen                           POOF!  F

First half MVP:  Grady Sizemore (He's the only good player we have left!  He should be on another team--too good for the Wahoos!)

Dolan's Letter to Tribe Fans by Leo the Wahoo Lion

Yesterday read letter from Dolan to Wahoo fans.  My response to letter is poof, poof, and more poof!!

I am Wahoo fan and I'm supposed to get excited and spend money to watch team?  Poof!

They get rid of best pitcher, closer and what is left?  No excuse for last place.  Every team has injuries!  Where are players in miners to take place?  No where!

I am supposed to get excited about a double A player?  Poof!

My message to Dolan is Spend some money to keep our good players!!!!  Going to be a long, long season.  POOF!
